If you were using X/Twitter in the last few hours, you might have noticed that clicking on links would lead you to an error page. Don't worry, it wasn't just you; X/Twitter suffered a widespread link outage, although it now appears to be working once more.
IGN sister site Downdetector points out users began reporting issues on X/Twitter around 1pm ET. Visiting the site, it would initially seem like all is well, but if you were to click on a link from an article, you would be met with this image saying the "page is down." Based on IGN's experience, it seemed that ads were not affected by the outage.
Those who have followed X/Twitter closely will know that this is the second time this kind of outage has occurred this year alone. TechCrunch reported in early March that a similar outage occurred where links and images were broken on the platform. The company posted the outage at the time was due to "an internal change that had some unintended consequences." The outage in question, as Platformer reported, was due to an error made by the only engineer was staffed on the reliability engineer team following mass layoffs from the company.
The official X Support account has yet to release a statement on the recent outage, nor has X Corp. CEO Linda Yaccarino and X Corp. owner Elon Musk also have not commented.
